08:30 departure by private coach from hotel BHR to Trieste. AfterTwo hours drive we reach our first stop at the Miramare Castle where we meet the guide Mrs Roberta Verona. She will stay with us for the whole day in Trieste.
The Miramare Castle, surrounded by a flourishing park full of rare botanic species, is famous for its scenic and dramatic location on a high cliff on the rocky promontory of Grignano in the Gulf of Trieste, and is about 10 km from the city. The Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Hapsburg ordered this building in the second half of the 19th century as a residence for himself and his wife, Charlotte of Belgium. This castle offers today’s visitors an example of a luxurious aristocratic residence which has preserved its original furnishings.

NATURAL MARINE RESERVE: In order to preserve and inform about our natural heritage, the marine area near Park of Miramare was established as natural marine reserve on 12 november 1986 and named as “Natural Marine Reserve of Miramare in the Gulf of Trieste”. The Castelletto of Miramare hosts its Visitor Centre and administration offices.
After this visit we move on to Trieste! Lunch will be in a typical trattoria of the city (included).
After lunch we begin the visit of the Imperial city of Trieste and you will experience its the historic and urban soul. Almost every square, corner, building, cafè and museum has something to say. The ancient Roman town Tergeste was built on San Giusto hill, its Forum ruins, ancient Basilica and Tempio can still be seen there. The city tour includes the Borgo teresiano with the Canal Grande, the neo-classical church of Sant’Antonio Nuovo and the Serbo-Orthodox church of San Spiridione. The These two churches co-existed with tolerance for long time. In Piazza Verdi we pass by Verdi Theater, that has an important opera season since the beginning of the 19th century. Then we will stop at the city life heart: Piazza Unità d’Italia, a great square overlooking the sea and surrounded on three sides by splendid buildings. At the end of the tour there will be some time to stroll around the city center.
18:30 departure to Treviso, arrival at the BHR hotel around 20:00.
